Is your car ready for winter?

Don't get caught unprepared. Make sure you do the following before you get a cold weather surprise:

• Check your anti-freeze.
  A frozen engine is a costly and time-consuming repair. Avoid it by making sure your engine's coolant level is correct and that it is the right mixture.
• Inspect your tires or install snow tires.
  Don't be one of those people stuck in a long line at the tire shop on the first day of snow. Make sure your tires are ready for the winter season now and save yourself the headaches later on.
• Replace your wipers. Rain, rain and more rain...along with some slush and snow. That's the forecast for the next several months so install some fresh wiper blades now. Remember, the days are going to get shorter so visibility will start getting worse. Good wiper blades are key to avoiding accidents.
• Check your windshield wiper fluid. You'll be going through a lot of wiper fluid so top off your washer bottle.
• Check your battery.Cold weather is brutal on your battery and you usually find out when you're late for work and cursing at your car. Clean the battery posts and make sure it is charging correctly and holding a charge overnight.
